NZ Primary Science Week Competition – Terms and Conditions
By entering this competition, you agree to the following Conditions of Entry and Competition Rules.
Eligibility
This competition is open to Eligible Entrants, defined as individuals or school groups who:

Are based in New Zealand.

Submit an entry via the NZAPSE Facebook page or by email to [email protected].

Are not employees, contractors, or representatives of the New Zealand Association of Primary Science Educators (NZAPSE) or NZASE, or immediate family members of those individuals.
Consent for Images and Media
If entries include photographs, videos, or other media featuring identifiable individuals (including children), the person submitting the entry must ensure that:

Explicit permission has been obtained from all individuals featured in the media.

Where minors are involved, consent has been obtained from a parent or legal caregiver.

Consent includes permission for the material to be shared publicly within the NZ Primary Science Week Facebook group, NZAPSE communication channels, and the NZAPSE website.
By submitting an entry, the entrant confirms that all required permissions have been obtained.
Judging
Entries will be judged by representatives of NZAPSE. Judging criteria may include, but are not limited to:

Creativity
-
Scientific thinking or exploration
-
Effort and engagement
-
Ability to follow the competition instructions
-
Presentation of the entry
The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
Winner Notification
Winners will be contacted using the contact details provided in their entry, which may include email, phone, or social media messaging.
If a winner cannot be contacted after reasonable attempts over a 7-day period, NZAPSE reserves the right to select an alternative winner.
Announcement of Winners
Winners will be announced within 5 working days of the competition closing date on:

The NZ Primary Science Teachers Facebook group

The NZAPSE website or newsletter (where applicable)
Use of Entries
By entering the competition, entrants and (where applicable) the parents or caregivers of participating children grant NZAPSE and NZASE permission to use submitted entries for the purposes of:

Promoting NZ Primary Science Week
-
Sharing examples of science learning and engagement
-
Promoting future competitions or related educational initiatives
This may include the use of images, videos, written submissions, and participant first names or school names across NZAPSE communication channels.
Entrants waive any claim to royalties, compensation, or other remuneration relating to this use.
Privacy
Personal information collected as part of this competition will be used solely for the administration of the competition and communication with entrants, unless permission is provided for further promotional use.
Competition Conduct
NZAPSE reserves the right to refuse or remove any entry that:

breaches these Terms and Conditions
-
contains inappropriate content
-
appears to have gained unfair advantage
-
is suspected of being submitted using fraudulent means
Changes or Cancellation
NZAPSE reserves the right to modify, suspend, or cancel the competition at any stage if necessary.
Prizes
Prizes must be claimed within 90 days of notification. NZAPSE will make reasonable efforts to notify winners of the claim period; however, it is the responsibility of the winner to claim their prize within this timeframe.
Unclaimed prizes may be forfeited.
If a prize becomes unavailable due to unforeseen circumstances, NZAPSE reserves the right to substitute a prize of similar value.
Prizes are not transferable and cannot be redeemed for cash.
